Cinque stazioni in Italia :)

Posted by Christoph

In Tschechien, Polen, Deutschland.

Almost a month ago a friend and I made a rather impromptu trip to: Venice! I've always felt like spontaneous trips are the best ones and this wasn't an exception :) The game plan was to go to Milan, spend a night there, and from there continue on our way to Verona and finally Venice. Speaking of Milan: By the end of the trip I had heard and used so many different names for this city that I literally didn't remember what it is called in German. Milan, Milano, Milan (with a French nasal sound). Mailand just got lost :)

Here's a couple of pictures from the trip. I can highly recommend each of these cities or to do the same trip altogether. In Venice we found accomodation via couchsurfing and I can say it's been a wonderful experience, we had the best hosts you can find! So if you're thinking about Couchsurfing: go ahead and do it :)

Venice made a lasting impression on me. However, it's not the big touristy spots like Rialto and Piazza San Marco. Not the big and beautiful and white and colourful buildings. Rather it's the small and often dirty little streets. The ones where people hang their clothes to dry over the Canal and granddads play cards with their grandchildren. The not so "ready for camera" ones. Venice, you've got a lot of charme!

I don't want to end this post now. In a way I'm tempted to find something to make you laugh or make you think. As I was just about to write "Not this time", something pressing actually came to my mind: Pray for the floods going on in Europe. In the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany. Also in Austria.
Pray for those who risk their lives by helping. And pray for those whose lives are figuratively and literally slipping through their hands.
