What's the upshot?

Posted by Christoph

So I thought, a week spent in Austria deserves a first upshot of how things are.

I always grabbed the wrong phone the first days.

And the wrong keys, which I still have with me.

You haven't moved out yet, if you still got the keys to your flat. Theoretically, I could jump in my car and go to Fribourg, if I wanted to. If only. This week I will go back to pick up some stuff that I left. My bed is still made and waiting for me. I think, after taking these last steps of moving back to Austria, I might feel the pain of separation.

The first night in Austria was weird. I remember thinking: This isn't my bed. This isn't my room. This is all wrong. Peculiar.

On the other hand and weirdly so, it's scary how normal everything feels. It feels normal to go to university in Linz. It feels normal to be with my family, to eat meat and to go out for eating (at reasonable prices). It also feels normal to see my friends.

Coming back for my best friend's wedding has got to be the best reason of all. It's been great and moving to celebrate with them on Friday and Saturday :)

I think it's incredible how fast people can win themselves a place in your heart. Who you miss when you're gone is the tough part of traveling and seeing places.

Soon I will be writing a little bit more, but for now this has to suffice as a short hello from good old Austria. Stay tuned as this blog will change it's name. I would like to continue even though my time in Switzerland is officially over now. I'd be glad if you stayed and shared this life with me - no matter if you're here or there. You're close to my heart. Thank you, sincerely.
